In 2013, Dubai announced its vision to become the capital of Islamic economy. Islamic principles play a fundamental role today in the global business environment, with the Islamic economy reaching approximately $2.3 trillion and Muslim population growth reaching 1.6 billion people.

In support of this vision, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry seeks through one of its strategies to promote and support the growth of Islamic economy globally. In line with this strategy and under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai – may God protect him – the Chamber launched, in cooperation with Thomson Reuters, the Global Islamic Economy Summit in 2013.

This summit presented the coherent concept of Islamic economy to all people worldwide, where this annual summit has become a platform for more than 2,000 decision-makers and business leaders to connect and discuss important issues affecting the seven pillars of Islamic economy, which are: Islamic Finance, Halal Industries, Halal Tourism, Islamic Digital Economy, Islamic Arts, Islamic Standards and Certifications, Islamic Teachings.

Dubai will host the third edition of the Global Islamic Economy Summit during October 11-12, 2016, where the summit will focus on social responsibility, the concept of Waqf, and charitable work principles as a foundation for business activities.
